The Legend of Beachfront

ONCE UPON A TIME there was a band there was the greatest band that ever lived. They were called Beachfront Property.

Two totally cool dudes

Two totally cool dudes.

Only they weren’t really a band at all; they were more like the weird, weird stuff coming out of songwriter Neal Hohman’s head (hey, that’s me!). Recording in Madison from 2002-2005, Beachfront was buoyed by the production skillz of one Jordan Parker (aka J.Lo) who added some sweet backup vocals, heavy guitar riffs and killer toy piano solos to the mix.

“When I’m With You”

One summer a song called “When I’m With You” arrived. Called a “tour de force” by many critics, “When I’m With You” features handclaps, toy piano, and a totally awesome geeeetaar solo.

So, uh…

Actually—what I really want to say in introducing this song, I think, is that somehow it manages to capture something true; something about the power of love and joy. Of wonder. Of happiness. Of renewal.

So enjoy. Spread love. And more handclaps, please.

Oh, and do me a favor when you listen to it: Turn it up loud—it sounds better that way.

Love,
Neal
